Newport Beach Surf Lifesaving Club
Barrenjoey Road, Newport Beach, NSW 2106
(02) 9997 5116
Newport Beach SLSC
Newport remained a quiet rural area until the 1930s when it became a popular weekend retreat. Although permanent residential development didn’t take off until the 1950s, the beach was well attended from much earlier times. The club has come a long way since its formal establishment in 1911.
The northern half of the beach is adjacent to the extensive Newport shopping centre which runs along Barrenjoey Road. ‘Bert Payne’ reserve, named after a Life Member of Newport SLSC, runs between Barrenjoey Road and Newport SLSC. It has playground and BBQ facilities and has substantial carparking space which extend to the northern end of the beach.
